Form and function.

The rest of verse one: “and the Earth was empty and formless”.  Some versions have “void” and “without shape” or “shapeless”. Be wary of versions which add the words “and became” or “was becoming” etc. Those are words added recently to accommodate those who embrace theistic views or embrace evolution. Sometimes it is used to promote the so-called watchmaker god. The idea being that God did indeed create the universe, but He did it billions of years ago then set things in motion and left the building. Kind of like Elvis Presley after a concert.

So let’s take a quick look at the entire verse. Keep in mind that in the original Hebrew this is one sentence and doesn’t end until verse three.

Genesis Chapter one verse one: “In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the Earth and the Earth was without form and empty and the Set Apart Spirit was hovering over the face of the deep (waters)”.

Without form and empty. There is some debate as to what these words mean. One theory that I find intriguing and currently embrace as the most probable is that the Earth at this point in time is actually an inert ball of matter. It has not been charged with energy yet. The word translated most often as hovering is actually oscillating. What happens when an object or Living Being vibrates? Or releases sound? It is releasing energy. So when The Set Apart Spirit began to vibrate He was producing the energy Elohim used to turn the “lifeless” ball of matter into the living Earth we now see, and to create the stars and sun and moon. Of course this is all speculation on my part. I was not there to see it.

Now Elohim begins to speak. The power (vibrations) of His words directs the energy as He creates the universe. What is fascinating is He creates the light before He creates the stars. Unbelievers point to this as a fallacy. They error in this because they do not know the Scriptures. And in not knowing the Scriptures they fail to see that this light is not the typical light we think of. This light is the Glory of Elohim. And the Glory of Elohim is Yashua (Jesus). The Scriptures tell us Elohim is light. In the gospel according to John chapter one verse one through five. Yashua is The Light. And The Light shines in the darkness and the darkness can not understand it, or overpower it. It also tells us Yashua himself was the One doing the creating. Our Messiah was there from the beginning.

Do you see it? Do you grasp the meaning of that sentence “let there be light?” This takes a bit of wisdom and spiritual discernment. This is the beginning of redemption. The start of the cosmic war that we are now involved in. The battle between good and evil.  Notice that Elohim calls the Light “good” but not the darkness. We know the night is not “evil” it simply is. And without the nights we could not see the stars and follow the zodiac to know the seasons and appointed times for feasts etc. So what is going on here? Food for thought on those sleepless nights.

And the evening and the morning were the first day. Night and day without the sun. Interesting topic for the next post. I do not want to make my posts too long for fear of putting people to sleep. Until next time.

Stay salty!

    1. The “Stay salty” idea I got from when Jesus said “You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt loses its flavor it is good for nothing”. It is a reminder to myself to try and live a life I am not ashamed of. Still working on it 🙂 Thanks for your comments.
